History

1904

James A. Diddle establishes "The Huntington Boiler Works". In 1904, the company manufactured high pressure boilers, performed boiler repair and steel plate work.

1917

James A. Diddle's son Sterling Diddle joins the the company and the business flourishes.

1939

The company changes its name to Huntington Boiler & Supply Co. and moves to its present location. The scope of the business is broadened to include the warehousing of steel and the fabrication of structural steel.

1954

As the company begins to focus more on steel sales and structural fabrication, the name is changed to Huntington Steel & Supply.

1973

R. Sterling Hall, grandson of Sterling Diddle, is named President and begins the modernization of the company. Under his direction the plant is expanded and more equipment installed, giving the company more processing capabilities. Three divisions are established – Service Center, Structural Fabrication, and Miscellaneous Fabrication.

1978

Huntington Steel opens a new branch in the Pikeville Kentucky area, increasing the ability to serve customers in the coal fields.

1979

Customers in the Logan West Virginia area are pleased to find Huntington Steel opening a branch to meet their needs more efficiently.

1989

Continuing in their expansion mode, the company does something a little different by opening a subsidiary operation under the name "Charleston Steel" in Dunbar, West Virginia. Due to his many years of experience and well established reputation for customer service, John Goetz is chosen as President of the new venture.

1993

Upon his retirement, Mr. Hall turns the reigns over to his son-in-law and current President Mike Emerson.

1995

Continued success under Mike’s direction allows the company to establish a new branch operation in Morgantown, West Virginia.

2004

Celebrated 100th Anniversary
